HarshCam: Overcoming the Limits of SONY FCB Camera Blocks

Sony FCB zoom camera blocks are widely regarded as the best‑in‑class imaging solutions for defense, surveillance, and industrial systems. However, like most commercial camera modules, standard FCB units are susceptible to performance degradation or failure when exposed to sustained vibration, mechanical shock, or extreme temperatures.

HarshCam eliminates these limitations.
Through internal mechanical adaptation, HarshCam transforms a standard Sony FCB block into a ruggedized, field‑ready camera module. All modifications are fully internal and invisible to both integrators and end users. Electrical interfaces, connectivity, and control protocols remain 100% compatible with original Sony specifications.

▷ The FUJIFILM SX1600

Uses advanced image processing to reduce visual distortion caused by heat haze, fog, and airborne particles. Its built-in «black glass» visible cut filter enables near-infrared imaging, helping capture clearer images even in harsh atmospheric conditions.

Boresight Retention Technology
When zooming in, even slight misalignment between the image sensor and the lens’s optical axis can cause the camera to lose sight of the target—especially in long-range surveillance or precision monitoring applications.

Fujifilm’s SX Series addresses this challenge with advanced boresight correction technology. By minimizing the gap between the sensor and the lens’s optical center, the system maintains consistent alignment throughout the zoom range.

Unlike conventional systems that often drift off-target during zoom operations, Fujifilm’s precision engineering ensures the subject stays centered—delivering reliable, high-accuracy imaging even under harsh conditions.

▷ From Mission-Critical Vision to Specialized Integration

At HarshCam, we do more than deliver rugged cameras — we develop complete, field-ready vision solutions tailored to the most demanding defense, security, and industrial applications. Our project work combines engineering precision, advanced optics, and real-world operational insight to create systems that thrive where conditions are harshest.

Each project is a collaboration: from initial requirement analysis and proof-of-concept, through prototyping, testing, and final deployment. Whether enabling autonomous navigation in military vehicles, providing 360° situational awareness, or delivering ultra-precise stereo vision for inspection and targeting, our systems are designed for performance without compromise.

The IHC-HDCL

360-Degree Vision in Military Applications

360-degree vision is a critical component in defense and military operations, particularly for armored vehicles. It significantly improves situational awareness, safety, and operational effectiveness in combat environments by providing a comprehensive view of the surroundings.

Enhanced Situational Awareness

With access to a full panoramic perspective, personnel can detect threats from every direction, including those concealed by obstacles or hidden in blind spots. This capability ensures that military teams are constantly informed of their environment, increasing their ability to identify and respond to potential dangers.

Possible ways to integrate the IHC-HDCL16C-X.X camera for achieving 360-degree vehicle vision with a 1/2 aspect ratio.

▷Integration with other technologies

360-degree vision systems are designed to work in tandem with technologies such as AI-based threat detection, augmented reality displays, and advanced communication systems. This integration further enhances the effectiveness and versatility of military equipment.

For instance, helmet-mounted radar systems can provide the ability to see through walls and obstacles, while vision technologies integrated into moving armored vehicles enable a real-time, all-encompassing view. These advancements apply to both ground and air operations, extending their benefits to soldiers and pilots alike.

Full-Spectrum Vision for the Modern Battlefield

The IHC-HDCL16C-X.X is built around the Sony XCL-CG160/C global shutter CMOS camera, powered by the IMX273 1/2.9″ GS (Pregius) sensor. This advanced imaging core delivers exceptional reliability, high sensitivity, and fast frame rates—key advantages for mission-critical surveillance and defense operations.
